Benda Nak Bawak Mai US

Hallo! Maybe for those who are flying this year need this. Those who are flying to USA. I got the permission from Nani, the one who receives an email from her aunt (in Illinois) to post the entire email here.

Assalamu’alaikum Nani,

Dah start shopping barang nak bawak mai sini dak gi? Ke dok shopping baju raya? Masa Cik nak mai sini about seminggu dua sebelum bertolak MARA bagi duit untuk belanja nak siap-siap barang dari sini as well as belanja untuk sebulan or dua bulan pertama di US. Ingat lagi pi KL dengan Chu pi cash check MARA di Bank Negara. Tak pernah dapat duit banyak tu..ketark perut bawak duit banyak-banyak. Tu le pasal masa dapat duit tu cik selamba isi dalam bag plastik yang bising-bising tu saja. And then makan lunch kat Central Market, youuuu..! Masa tu Central Market tu kira terror la…

Anyway, kalau depa still buat style ni lagi Cik nak suggest Nani tukark buat bank draft (macam yang Chu dok hantark kat cik bulan-bulan) so that orang lain tak leh cash. Nak lagi senang buat travellers check. Sampai sini boleh cash kat mana-mana bank. Just leave one or two hundreds in cash kut nak kena bayar apa-apa kat airport. Visa dah dah buat? Senang dapat dak? Depa tanya apa? Kut la depa tanya pasai nani pakai macam ‘pengganas’ ka apa ka?

Anyway, saja cik nak bagi guidelines apa menatang nak bawak mai sini. Antara menda yang tak payah bawak ialah lembu, ayam-itik, kambing dan biri-biri.(iklan: kami berdua (nani and I) gelak gler at this point miwahahaha) Bakul bawang tak payah bawak. Tongkat tokpun tak yah bawak. Batu giling dan lesung batu kalau celuih (ni maksud dia cukup, ade space, kan kan?) bag, bawak la. Kalau tidak nanti dia nak jalan payah pula.

First thing first, if there is any dental work that you want to get done, buat kat msia. Nak cabut, nak palam..buat di kedah siap-siap pasal di sini mahal. Buka saja mulut depan dr, bayar $40. Kalau ada vaccination or immnizations yang nak kena update, buat di kedah siap-siap. Kalau tak silap hepatitis tu semua kena amek in several doses, so masa buat medical check-up ask the doctor if you are current on all your shots. Students di sini ada group medical insurance. But if you can avoid spending, might as well do.

InsyaAllah masa Nani sampai sini nanti masih lagi musim panas. So buat masa ni tak payah la beli winter coat di Msia. Kalau nak beli just beli baju sejuk jenis-jenis cardigan yang tak berapa tebal untuk pakai dalam kapalterbang because in can get quiet cold dalam plane. Wintercoat kat msia maybe tak banyak choice dan susah dapat size nani. So, tak payah beli. Just before Fall nanti kita (nani ngan makcik dia~! *insert rasa jealous skettt cni* =P) pi shopping wintercoat.. Nani pi lecture nanti pakai pants kan ? Elokla. Sebab kengkadang di sini jarak antara building dengan building jauh dan kena menapak. Dalam snow lagi. So, bawakla seluark panjang macam yang nani pakai masa di msia. Jangan pulak bawak sampai 10 lai. Bawak setakat 5 - 6 pasang cukup lah. Baju to go with the pants pun tak payah bawak banyak pasal kalau baju tu nipis macam jenis yang biasa orang pakai di msia, nanti bila musim sejuk dah tak leh pakai. Also include 3 - 4 helai ‘nicer’ blouse that you can wear to majlis semi-rasmi kat U nanti. Baju kurungpun tak payah bawak sampai 10 pasang. Kira setahun sepasang baju raya as well as 3 - 4 pasang untuk pakai hari-hari kut-kut teringin nak pakai bila weather panas sikit. Kalau ada pant-suit yang agak-agak sesuai untuk presentation dalam kelas di Universiti (macam yang orang pakai pi interview) tu bawaklah sepasang. Tapi tak payah susah pi cari tailor pulak. Di sini nanti boleh pi cari boleh beli yang siap dah. Kut la nanti Nani mai sini terus berat badan naik baju-baju tu tak muat pulak…

Kasut: Selipar jepun tak payah bawak. Kalau ada sepasang kasut favourite yang kira ‘ala kedatinan’ (highlight sketttt =P) sikit untuk guna dengan baju raya bawaklah. Kalau tak bawakpun tak pa pasal di sini ada perbagai jenis kasut untuk perbagai activiti untuk perbagai musim. Mai pilih saja. Hargapun ok. Satu cik nak bagi tau, kalau Nani ada jumpa stokin yang diperbuat dari kulit atau water-proofed socks di Malaysia (orang arab/pakisatan kat sini selalu pakai ni. Depa pangge khuf) beli la sepasang dua. Sebab nanti musim sejuk and while at school mungkin payah nak buka kasut dan stokin untuk amek wudu’ . Kalau pakai khuf ni boleh la main sapu atas dia saja. Some kat sini just basuh kaki dengan menyapu air atas stokin saja. Cik dulu ada gak buat cam ni. Tapi bila selidik balik macam ada percanggahan pendapat pasal menyapu air atas stokin yang tak water-proof. Tapi pasal sapu air atas khuf ni memang zaman Nabi s.a.w ada dibuat. Kalau ada beli la. Tak dak, nanti kita boleh beli di sini.(*insert jealousy again...haha =P)

Lain-lain keperluan harian: seperti tuala, berus gigi, bantal (unless it is bantal busuk), cadar tak payah bawak. May be a small non-space taking towel for the trip. Ubat gigi halal dari msia tiub kecik-kecil is a good idea. Cik rasa 2-3 pasang telekung untuk berganti-ganti dah cukup. Di sini orang msia saja solat guna telekung. Bangsa lain tak guna telekung. Cikpun kengkadang masa travel or di luar rumah solat dengan tudung saja. Sejadah 2 helai, satu untuk guna kat rumah, satu lagi beli yang nipis or yang kecil untuk guna masa travel. Cik kengkadang guna tuala saja buat sejadah.

Tudung: Di sini tak banyak choice dan tak lawa dan tak dak style msia…kalau nak tudung bawal tak leh cari di sini. Nak tudung lawa beli di msia. Tudung tsunami (errr, tudung cemane kah ini?) banyak la. Tudung labuh macam Chu pkai boleh dapat di kedai jual kitab dan buku islam Tapi boleh dapat dalam warna hitam, kelabu, hitam + kelabu, kelabu + hitam, or cokelat gelap. Nak warna lain..again, beli di Msia. Tudung style datin (hailait skettt =p) bleh la beli di kedai kain india di sini. Alas lengan (arm sleeves) , tutup anak rambut, tu semuapun cik cadangkan Nani beli di msia. Benda-benda cam tu semua susah dapat di sini. Kalau adapun, mahal and limited choice.

Rempah-ratus – rempah ratus mentah tak payah bawak. i.e. biji ketumbar, biji lada hitam, biji jintan etc. No need to bring. Takut nanti kena rampas dek kastam. Depa ni bukan boleh kira. Depa tengok biji halus-halus depa ingat kita nak mai US tanam rempah-ratus. So nak selamat tak payah bawa rempah mentah jenis-jenis biji. Rempah mentah yang dah siap dikisar cik rasa okay. Tapi buat rugi space dalam luggage saja bawak rempah ni semua. Di kedai india/pakistan kat sini ada perbagai jenis rempah. Kekacang dan beraspun tak payah bawak. Kedai grocery biasapun ada jual rempah mentah. Matsaleh sini dah syok makan kari la ni. Rempah yang cik rasa patut bawak are rempah campuran untuk kari ikan/ayamdaging/udang, rempah campuran untuk rendang, rempah campuran nasi beriani, rempah campuran untuk sup dan sepapan bunjut sup. Beli peket besar. Figure sebab area midwest ni jauh dari laut maka jadinya makanan laut mahal dan susah dapat di sini. So you will NOT be eating kari ikan/udang/ketam every other day. Figure everyday you will be eating either ayam or daging. SO bring rempah untuk kari ayam lebih sikit. 2 -3 peket besar (bukan 2 -3 guni no…) dah cukup. Orang lainpun nanti bawak bekal depa. Cik selalu beli brand adabi dan faizah. Ikan bilis yang dah siap dipilispun bawak la sikit. Hari tu masa balik cik beli kat expo peladang ikan bilis dalam peket kecil kecil yang siap dipilih. Very convenient. Bila nak guna buka satu peket. Ikan bilis kalau lama tak guna dia jadik terlampau masin, bau busuk dan tak menarik eventhough simpan dalam peti ais. So kalau dah siap dalam peket kecil-kecik ni senang la bila nak makan amek setakat yang nak saja. <u>Udang kering tak payah bawak. Sotong kering tak payah bawak.Ikan kering? Depends. If you like ikan kering (bukan ikan pekasam…!!!!) bawaklah sebungkus dua yang kecik-kecik. Tapi kalau nanti nani dok dalam apartment building harap jangan goreng ikan kering. Nanti jiran sebelah ingat bau bangkai depa panggil polis pulak! Cili kering tak payah bawak. Sini ada bermacam jenis cili dari yang pedas sampai dua hari tak hilang dan yang tak pedas langsung. And please jangan lupa belacan. Macam yang tok dok buat bagi kat cik tu very nice. Dia siap bakar sampai kering. Mai sini cik simpan dalam peti ais tahan 4 – 5 tahun! Guna setakat nak amek syarat saja. Rempahpun cik simpan dalam peti ais. Tahan lama. Belacan sini semua vietnam , thailand , melaka or penang mari. Tengok rupapun cik geli. Kalau nak bawak kicap habhal, good idea. Tapi tu lah, botol tu berat dan mungkin pecah dalam perjalanan. Maybe bleh beli sebotol dua and transfer masuk dalam botol plastik yang tak mudah pecah (isi ¾ penuh pasal dalam plane nanti botol tu menguncup due air pressure, takut nanti tercabut tudung botol pulak. So make sure you screw in the cap tightly too) pas tu bungkus dalam newspaper and masuk dalam beg plastik. The only kicap halal yang ada di sini is kicap ABC dari indonesia . Kicap matsaleh terlampau cair dan teramat masin eventhough cara pembuatan kicap depa is more bersih. You can do the same with sos cili dan sos tomato. Sos cili sini suma thailand mari. Kopi msia kalau nani jenis minum kopi bawaklah banyak bungkus sikit. Tok beli pek kecil-kecil kat cik. Cik Cuma minum kopi msia seminggu dua kali..nak jimat..untuk special occasion masa cik rileks kat rumah. Hari lain, minum kopi segera yang biasa-biasa tu saja. Dan kalau Nani suka serondeng (my fav food ever, hailat byk sketttt =Ppp) bawakla dua tiga peket. Hari tu balik cik beli serondeng daging keluaran FAMA. It is not super sedap but it is good enough. I like it sebab dia dah siap dibungkus dalam peket kedap udara dan outside peket tu ada instructions and nutritional values in english…kut kena explain kat kastam. (wahahha we eat to live, dats why panjang gler bab food ni)

Books: Cik rasa tak payah bawak kalau rasa tak perlu. Buat berat beg saja. Easier kalau Nani tulis saja title buku-buku yang agak important nanti mai sini bleh cari kat kedai buku terpakai. Your lecture and school notes kalau nak bawak and tak makan ruang bawakla. Tapi easier kalau if you scan masuk pendrive. Sampai sini boleh print balik. Kut ada resepi-resepi rahsia yang mak nani, tok, chuck dan chu dah perturn kat nani better masuk pendrive as well as gambar-gambar. Buku resepi tak payah bawak pasal kat internet berlambak resepi sites for masakan melayu.

Nanti Nani bawak laptop mai sini? Just be aware that kalau nani bawak laptop, nanti lalu kat airport security is going to be rough and slow sebab they will want to turn it on and go through it inside out. They may even go through your files. Laptop kecik-kecikpun berat jugak. So, kalau Nani bawak laptop try to limit your handlugggage to as light as it can be. Remember you will be walking from gate to gate, from arrival to departure lounge of at least two airports on your way here. Don’t uncessarily burden yourself. Nanti kut tersilap gate ka apa ka, nak berlari dengan hand luggage berat (lain la kalau dah PRO macam Cik ni…hehehe) Bawak sepersalinan baju luar dan dalam, one or two light reading material as well as a few toiletries dah cukup. My past experience say masa packing tu cuba organized each item into smaller plastic bags. Sebab nanti kalau kena declara kat kastam dia akan punggah bag kita. Kalau kena kastam yang ‘kureng’ sikit, jenuh nak kena arrange balik luggage so you can lock it. So, arrange your food into small bgs. At least kata la he wants to check rempah yang nani bawak, he only needs to go through the one bag instead of digging through your whole luggage looking for rempah. Anyway, kalau dah dalam plastik bag, if bungkusan rempah tu pecah at least it will be contained inside the bag. Also, isi luggage tu until you can comfortable lift it yourself. Nanti lalu kastam you have to haul the luggage onto platforms that is going to be about three feet above ground. So, if you cannot comfortably lift it yourself, better take out some stuff. Kastam ni kengkadang tak mau tolong langsung. This is what I normally do. I count on no one helping me at the airport and I fill the luggage sampai cik boleh angkat bag tu sorang-sorang. Selagi boleh angkat..keep on isi.. Hope you get a good sturdy bag for the trip. Bag yang macam mak Nani bawak pi mekah is probably good if you can find something a tad bigger. Airport handlers can be quite rough with the bags. Takut nanti koyak rabak before sampai sini.

Oh, look at that. Dah jam 3.50. Lagi sepuluh minit I’ll be out of here. Nak gi amek the two nangois from daycare. So, this is it for now. Kalu ada apa-apa pesanan lagi that I come up with, I’ll email later. Until then, limpahan salam kasih sayang to everyone at home.

"Je m'appelle Bulat. (don't tell my owner (the blog's owner) I sneak on her back everytime she's on the net) My name is Round aka Bulat. Hold on. I'm not as round as what you think I am. Never think that way. That is history. You know, people change and so do cat like me. I play so much that I lost many weight and become so skinny. Maybe people should call me Stick or Kayu since now I've it's looks. Enough of the introduction. I am female by the way. I eat a lot and I scream as much as I eat especially when I see anybody goes to the kitchen. I expect they want to feed me but they actually don't. (sigh) Sometimes human are selfish. or selhuman I suppose. I'm very naughty too. Denice the menace of the house. I often drop things in the house. Miawahahaaha.. Oh yea, in case you're wondering, my favorite food is fish. I love to play with the other two miao."

The owner: that's a bit of self introduction by my kitten. She's 6 months, I think. She's annoyed me most of the time as she loves to scream out loud at me every time I go to the kitchen (sorry, redundancy) Despite all that, I still love her. Mwah.

"Hallo, my name is Didun. Didun what? Just Didun as in dee-dune. Don't ask why, I've no idea why I am called that name but I like it. First and foremost, I'm clean and tidy. I love to groom my self. I hate dirty place or dirty cat especially Bulat. If there's any, I'll groom them up.That's why people love me because I've discipline. Oh you want to know my secret? I'm a shy girl. I run as fast as I could and hide underneath the couch every time a stranger comes to our house. I don't feel comfortable with everyone in the house but not when I'm with the only son in the house : Lan. (blogger's bro) because he was the one who pick me up when I came to this house. I feel secure when I'm with him. I love to play with the other two miao. too."

The owner: I think this kitten was abused when she was little that's why she seems to have low self-esteem. But we all love her. She's our second favorite of all. She came to our house few months ago and makes our house as hers. She's an obedient cat. Good kitty.

"Haiho! I'm the eldest among all. Do call me Miming. But people also call me Big aka Besar or Giant. Why? I bet you know why. Because I'm so darn big. Don't doubt me. Maybe my picture above doesn't seem to show my real size. Well, photoshop. -_- I came to this family a year ago. The story is like this : I used to live at a restaurant near the main city. One day, I saw a man (the blogger's dad) eating with his friends and I decided to follow him back home. I hope he will let me. And thank god, he allowed me to follow. His children showered me and fed me. I felt like I have ohana. Ohana means family. Only God knows how happy I was. I'm lucky enough not to meet bad and evil stranger that intend to throw me away. *insert sad tone*. So that's how I got into this house. I like being here because all of them treat me nicely as if I'm a VIP. Oh yea, just so you know, I'm the hero of all the cats here. I'm the man. I love to play with other two miao. too. "

The owner: Yes, he is right. He's our favorite of all. Even my mom who's very choosy in liking cats loves him. Bath him, do manicure and pedicure to him. He is such one lucky cat.

I actually have so many things to say but I think let it be in another post. Hoho too much information's sometimes annoyed, no?

It takes longer to create! Hassles! Imagine, to make an underline on a word, you need to type:

this is the initial (before the word) : p style=text-decoration:underline;" (enclosed with < & >)

this is at the end of the word : /p (do the same: enclose with < & >)

i.e: < style="text-decoration:underline;"> Life is great < /p >

I could not type the proper way of coding because it won't appear since the css code is applicable here.

and so, to make the word blink, just simply change the word underline to blink. i.e:
